Hey! Yeah, I’m still here. The trio of writer’s block, exhaustion, and lack of free time since my job changed this year has been a formidable foe. But I think I’m finding my equilibrium again. I have a couple of things in the hopper that feel like they’re ready to break free.

Until that time, I want to call your attention to a couple of shows I have coming up this fall. First up is a truly one-of-a-kind show with the inimitable, incorrigible, and indomitable Tony Rogers, my brother from another mother, my partner in rhyme, the most singularly creative force I have ever encountered. On Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00pm he’s putting on a musical career retrospective at Martyrs’ to celebrate his 60th birthday. It’ll be a blend of songs from his solo projects, bands, and other miscellany spanning over 35 years. As it happens, I’ve been his (stage) right-hand man for most of that corpus, and so of course I’ll be there in support. I think I’m on stage for about 80% of the gig. It’s audacious, bodacious, and flirtatious. Come and see! All ages show. Tickets are available here and now.

Soon to follow, the continuation of a nearly ten-year tradition: the annual Exquisite Corpse Ball Halloween show at Beat Kitchen. This year, we are suiting up as Pearl Jam. Flannel shirts, Doc Martens, and wallet chains as far as the eye can see. I’m also sitting in for another set as the J. Geils Band, playing the part of, well, J. (I’m not sure he has a first name.) It’s always an incredible night with five or six great sets from all of our local faves. And, each year it seems the audience is trying to outdo their costumes from the last year.
